'Grace': PETA's Thanksgiving ad
PETA (People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals) have submitted another advertisement to be aired during a 'family' event... And once again PETA's advertisement has been rejected.
During last year's superbowl PETA submitted a commercial to be aired during the NFL Superbowl. The commercial that PETA submitted was a short film of sexy women engaging in sexual acts with vegetables. Needless to say, the Superbowl is considered a 'family' event and therefore it would be unethical for a sexually explicit commercial to be aired during such an event.
Instead of another sex film PETA has used a commercial of a young girl sitting at the dinner table with friends and family where she says a prayer for 'Turkeys' and graphically describes the torture that they endure and the poor living conditions they are forced to be raised in.
PETA issued a statement claiming that the commercial contained NO graphic or obscene images and therefore they did not know why NBC refused to air it...
To be honest... NBC refused to air it because it is still considered graphic and inappropriate both for the audience that is watching the parade (event) as well as inappropriate for the Holiday that is being celebrated.
While I agree that some animals are mistreated I must admit that I am appalled by the tactics PETA attempts to use. Truthfully... These recent advertisement attempts by PETA are worse than the old tobacco advertisements and it would seem appropriate that something be done to limit the types of advertising they are allowed to use since they obviously don't care about the type of offensive advertisements they run.
Special Thanks:Thanks to NBC for being considerate of this National Holiday and refusing to air extremely inappropriate material. All PETA ads should be banned in the future just as the old cartoon cigarette ads were banned.
