Everyone seems to have an opinion about Carrie Prejean but those opinions are warped by their personal feelings and therefore those opinions are completely worthless to anyone other than the person that has them.
The question we all have is whether or not Carrie Prejean is a bad person, a good person or even a semi-decent role-model. With this in mind, let's analyze Carrie Prejeans actions from an intelligent perspective and leave our personal feelings aside for the moment.
"Marriage should be between a man and a woman."
Gay-marriage is a HUGE political topic right now and it has been for several years. Anyone with even a small amount of intelligence would avoid answering questions that pertain to this political issue because no matter how you answer it, someone is going to be offended.
"I was ONLY 17 when I posed nude for a religious calender."
While I disagree with Carrie Prejean posing nude I can not say that this reduces her ability to be a role-model.
Truthfully, allowing a teenager to pose nude on a magazine cover should still technically classify as child pornography. While the photos are not designed to incite a sexual response it is still used and designed to incite a response, which leads to higher sales for magazines and newspapers. Teenagers should not be allowed to use their bodies to increase their popularity and magazine companies should not be allowed to use a teenagers body to increase its revenue, but the United States Government does not consider this as a type of child pornography and therefore it is not illegal.
We've seen MANY celebrities (Jessica Beil, Miley Cyrus to name just a few) pose nude for magazines while they were only 16 or 17 years old and no one really complained, which means we shouldn't be complaining about Carrie Prejean since we didn't complain about most of the other celebrities that also took their clothes off for financial reward.
"I was only 17 when I filmed myself for my boyfriend."
In today's day and age a LOT of teenagers use their digital cameras or cellular phones to take pictures of themselves nude or to shoot videos of themselves performing sexual acts on themselves (what we refer to as sexting) or others and then send them to their school friends.
What Carrie Prejean did is no different than what hundreds of thousands of other kids and teenagers have done and therefore I will not consider her less of a role-model... If anything... Carrie Prejean is just as normal as everyone else.
What does all this mean?
Carrie Prejean did nothing that can be considered illegal and therefore she never did anything wrong. Most of what Carrie Prejean did is exactly the same as what hundreds of thousands of other teenagers do everyday and therefore she is just as worthy of being a role-model as anyone else.
Instead of looking at Carrie Prejean and making absurd comments I think we all need to step back and rethink where the real problem is coming from... The United States Government.
Congress needs to get off their behinds and start focusing on child pornography laws so that kids don't have access to some of the things they currently have access to. Perhaps we need to set a age limit on cellular phones so that kids have to be 16 or 18 years old before they are allowed to use these devices. Perhaps we need to re-write child pornography laws so that news agencies can't publish half naked photos of teenage boys and girls...
